Concert Review: Panic! At the Disco

After hitting the big stage at last years Reading and Leeds Festival you can say Panic! at the Disco are back on track and came back to hit the stage again in London last week. No doubt the band went through a lot and it is now good ten years since their first album ‘A fever you can’t sweat out’ was released in Sept. 2005. Today Brendon Urie is the last man standing from the original p!atd crew but the band has been completed now with Kenneth Harris, Daniel Pawlovich and Dallon Weekes.

P!atd decided to have a little, let’s call it one off pre release party in London just before they dropped the new album ‘Death of a Bachelor’. It was raining and cold but the dedicated fans in the first rows of the queue already waited for hours wrapped up in their blankets.

The support act Charley Marley was pretty good doing his thing on stage and interacting with the crowd. He already supported Fall out Boy on their UK tour last year and is part of Pete Wentz’ Fueled by Ramen family.

Up next and on time p!atd. The show had right from the beginning a lot of energy and good vibes. Smashing tracks from the last album just like ‘Nicotine’ and ‘Miss Jackson’ and mixing it up with songs from the new album like ‘Victorious’. Not to forget that Brendon Urie is kind of a one man band. Casually taking over the sticks to play a drum solo or play the guitar along to ‘This is Gospel’.

A special cover on p!atd setlist is ‘Bohemian Rapsody’ which Urie performs sitting at the piano and has the crowd sing along. Some oldies but goldies are obviously on the setlist as well such as ‘Nine in the afternoon’ , ‘Lying is the most fun…’ and ‘I write since not tragedies’ while Urie admits that he is actually pretty sick of performing this song.
The setlist definitely covered all Panic! at the disco releases and we can all look forward to what else will come from p!atd this year.
They already announced a big summer tour in the US which will kick off 10th June. A tour for the UK has not been announced yet.

Either way if you want to catch them live you will get the chance end of May when they headline the Slam Dunk Festival throughout the UK. They are also playing the Rock am Ring and Rock im Park Festival in Germany and are rumoured to join R&L Festival 16 as well.
